Jason Aldean’s Top Five Festival Tips

Jason readies fans for inaugural Faster Horses Festival.

Going from playing in the heart of the city at Chicago’s iconic Wrigley Field on July 20 to playing out in the rolling hills of nearby Brooklyn, Mich., the very next night won’t be too big of an adjustment for Jason Aldean. “I just go in and do my show, whether it’s an arena or a stadium or festival or whatever,” Jason tells Country Weekly.

Yet, for the fans, a festival atmosphere can be quite a different ballgame. Taking place July 19–21, the inaugural Faster Horses Festival, in the luscious landscape of rural Michigan, will feature Jason and fellow headliners Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan alongside top country acts such as Kix Brooks, Jake Owen, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Young, Colt Ford, Thompson Square, Jerrod Niemann and others.

With the festival galloping on the horizon, we polled Jason for his top tips for getting the most out of Faster Horses.

5. KEEP YOUR SKIN SAFE AND YOUR DRINK COLD

“Bring some sunscreen and a koozie, for sure,” Jason advises. “The fact is that when summertime rolls around, country fans want to go out and tailgate and, to put it bluntly, drink beer and have fun with their friends.”

4. HOP THE TRAM

A complimentary tram service will be provided for campers to take them from their site to the stages. Jason, however, as an artist, will have the luxury to BHOC: Bring His Own Cart. “We love getting in the golf cart and go out and find some people to tailgate with,” he says. “I love to get out and take it all in. We usually can only stay for a few minutes before it gets a little crazy and we have to go back to the bus. But I love doing stuff like that.”

3. GET THE INSIDE SCOOP ON TWITTER

Faster Horses promoter Brian O'Connell (@boccountry) is a Twitter addict, always ready with some festival news. Follow him for all the latest scoop, as well as @faster_horses. “The cool thing about this deal is you have Brian O’Connell and the people from Live Nation who have been around these festivals for years and they have seen what some festivals lack and what some festivals do right,” Jason explains. “The fact that they can take all that knowledge and put it together in a festival . . . well, something tells me it’s going to be great. From fan parking to tickets to the setup backstage, Brian and his team are putting together something that’s not only going to be a great festival for the fans, but something as artists we enjoy going to and being a part of.”

2. STAY ALL NIGHT, STAY A LITTLE LONGER . . .

“With festivals like these, fans get to come out to the show and have a whole day of music and camp out for the whole weekend if they want. I mean, it’s an event,” Jason says, suggesting fans stay the entire weekend. “People look forward to just going about as much as we look forward to playing.”

1. SLEEP LIKE A ROCK STAR

Says Jason: “Sleep in ’til noon. It helps when you plan to stay up all night!”
