Jason Aldean’s New Duet Partner: Lenny Kravitz

“I think [it’s] cool to have him here, one of the biggest rock stars ever,” Jason says.

So every two years or so, Jason Aldean has to perform with a rapper or rocker on the CMT Music Awards. It’s his thing, right?

Who can forget Jason and rapper Ludacris performing “Dirt Road Anthem” on the 2011 CMT awards show?

And for the 2013 show, airing live Wednesday, June 5, at 8 p.m. ET, Jason is serving up a little Lenny Kravitz.

Huh?

Jason told reporters recently that they met through mutual friends.

“I had a chance to go down to the Bahamas a couple months ago. Hung out with Lenny Kravitz for a while. Kind of wrote some songs and just kind of got to spend some time getting to know him,” Jason said.

“We asked him to come in and be a part of the show, which I think is cool to have him here, one of the biggest rock stars ever,” added Jason, who’s also co-hosting Wednesday’s show.

“So, I think it’s gonna be a lot of energy. A lot of fun. It’s gonna be a great way to kick the show off, and it’s gonna be loud. That’s what I can tell you.”
