Charlie Daniels and a sellout crowd at Nashville’s Lipscomb University got surprise visits from Jason Aldean and Lee Greenwood during Charlie Daniels’ Scholarship for Heroes concert, Tuesday night (March 5).

The show, a benefit for Lipscomb's Yellow Ribbon Enhancement Program, also featured Chris Young, The Grascals, Keni Thomas, Christian rock band Bleach and Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Sparky Matejka. GAC personality and CW contributor Storme Warren emceed the event.

Lee performed his classic “God Bless the USA” to kick off the show. After Charlie and his band completed their set, Jason walked out to the stage and performed several tunes with Charlie, including the crowd-pleasing “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”

The Yellow Ribbon Enhancement Program allocates the necessary funds for qualified veterans to earn a tuition-free undergraduate degree from Lipscomb University. Since its inception in 2009, the program has grown from having 20 original participants to more than 150 veterans enrolled this spring.

“We have so many heroes whose needs fly below our radar,” Charlie commented in a release about the concert. “This shouldn't be happening and this event is helping to make sure it doesn't.”
