Jason Aldean Scores First Double-Platinum Album

My Kinda Party is the best-selling country album of 2011.

Looks like Jason Aldean’s dirt road is gonna be paved with gold soon, or platinum, to be exact.

The guy is on fire, scoring his first-ever double-platinum album with more than 2 million copies of My Kinda Party sold.

“It’s always been a big dream of mine to have platinum albums, but this [double-platinum] thing snuck up on me,” Jason said in a statement. “It is beyond anything I could have dreamed or expected.”

That makes My Kinda Party the best-selling album in country music for this year, and Jason joins Adele, Lady Gaga and Mumford & Sons for best-selling albums in any genre. The double-platinum landmark comes after Jason scored three straight No. 1 hits off the album, including the most recent, “Dirt Road Anthem.” Oh, and did we mention Jason just tied for most Country Music Association award nominations with five, including Entertainer of the Year?

“I’ve been working my tail off out on the road for years building my career, and up until last week, it sorta felt like if you hadn’t been to one of the shows, maybe you didn’t know what was happening,” he said. “It feels like I've finally been invited to the party, and it feels incredible to have your friends and peers pat you on the back and recognize the work that's gone into the last year.”
