Jason Aldean Has No. 1 Country Album So Far

Highest-ranking solo male act since Kenny in ’04.

Jason Aldean 2011 - My Kinda Party Album Cover

The midyear numbers are in, and country music is about 2 percent down in total sales from last year.

But don't tell that to Jason Aldean, who has zoomed ahead of all other country artists with his latest, My Kinda Party. Not only is that the best-selling country album in 2011, it’s the fourth-highest-selling album in any genre this year.

Jason’s success has been fueled by two hits, his collaboration with Kelly Clarkson, “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” and his country/rap hit, “Dirt Road Anthem.”

The success is so big that My Kinda Party now is the highest-ranked solo male country album since Kenny Chesney’s When the Sun Goes Down was the No. 3 best-selling album at midyear in 2004.
