Jason Aldean will be part of a new reality TV show singing contest that premieres July 9 on the E! cable channel, the New York Daily News reports.

The show is called Opening Act, and in it, American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe, Mary J. Blige and a producer will scour the Internet for opening acts for big-time music acts.

And those acts include Jason, Mary J., Rod Stewart, the band LMFAO and pop star Nicki Minaj.

Says Lythgoe, "There is an extraordinary amount of untapped talent out there. But if you don't know the right people or have the right connections, you may never be discovered. With Opening Act, we are democratizing a notoriously impossible process."
