Jaron Really Hates That Girl

Have you heard the new country song "Pray for You"? Lots of fans are laughing out loud at the surprise twist when Jaron Lowenstein starts singing about praying that his girl’s brakes go out, or that her tire blows out while she’s going 110 miles an hour.

Jaron, formerly of pop duo Evan and Jaron, says he comes by the song honestly, that he really thought those thoughts after a breakup. Jaron—now a solo country act that he’s calling Jaron and the Long Road to Love—says he’s not proud of having those thoughts. But they are honest. “How many times in traffic have we screamed something out, yelled at somebody? They’re not bad people, we just caught them at a bad time,” Jaron tells Country Weekly. “I tend to write as close to the truth as possible with the ugly parts included.”

And does the "Pray for You" girl know the song’s about her? “I don’t think so. . . . We haven’t had a conversation. The girl I wrote 'Pray for You' about is not really the kind of person who’s quick to reach out to me.”

Jaron has just found out that he’s joining a Toby Keith tour as an opener, and he's thrilled to be touring with a guy he admires. “His personality, his songs and his point of view have paved the way for a guy like me. Without Toby Keith, a song like 'Pray for You' can’t be accepted the way it is.”
