James Otto Admitted to Hospital

Otto, James

James Otto, best known for his country-soul hit "Just Got Started Lovin' You," has been admitted to a Nashville-area hospital and will miss shows this weekend.

"Dear Friends: I want to share with you that I was admitted to the hospital yesterday for an abdominal illness and will be cancelling my shows this weekend—9/10 in Clarksville, Tennessee and 9/11 in Berea, Ohio," James said in a statement released by his label. "I have been feeling badly on and off for a while now but didn't think it was serious. Plus, I may have been a bit distracted by all the excitement of baby Ava's arrival! I’ll be down for a few days but hope to be back in action and on the road again soon."

He also tweeted this on his Twitter account: "I am in the hospital for a couple days but I am feeling much better. Thanks for the well wishes. I'll be back on the road soon."

James, whose album Shake What God Gave Ya is out Sept. 14, recently became a first-time dad when wife Amy gave birth to daughter Ava on Aug. 24.
