Jake Owen to Perform at Orange Bowl Halftime Show

Jake Owen got a big orange promotion this week.

After playing the pre-game show last year at the prestigious Discover Orange Bowl, Jake will be the halftime performer at this year's college football showdown. It happens Jan. 1 at Miami's Sun Life Stadium in Jake's home state of Florida.

The gig puts Jake in some high cotton in the music world. Past Orange Bowl halftime performers include ZZ Top, Jessica Simpson, the Doobie Brothers, the Goo Goo Dolls and Kelly Clarkson.

But Jake isn't the only country(ish) connection to this year's Orange Bowl.

Blake Shelton fans might remember a teenage girl named Xenia who joined his team on the first season of The Voice. That same young singer has been selected to perform the national anthem at the big game.

ESPN will carry the broadcast, and the competing teams will be revealed Dec. 2.
