It (Looks Like) a Girl for Ashton Shepherd, So Far

If it's a girl, she plans to name her Raden Delilah.

After some time out of the spotlight, Ashton Shepherd is back in a big way, with her current Top 20 Billboard single, “Look It Up.”

And she’ll perform at LP Field during this year’s CMA Music Festival. “I’m so excited because I’ll be performing with a full band this year, and am already working on a set list for it,” Ashton tells CountryWeekly.com. Ashton performed an acoustic set at last year’s CMA Fest.

To top it off, she’s expecting her second child in September. “Everything is really looking positive,” says Ashton, who is five months along. “I have an appointment coming up Monday after Mother’s Day (May 9). It feels like a little girl right now, unless something 'pops up' between now and then—that’s my word that I keep telling everybody. If it 'pops up' then we’re going to have a boy and that’s fine, but it looks like a girl at this point. My husband’s excited, and we’re excited to be parents again. We love our little boy [5-year-old James]. He’s my world.”

It seems that James is more than ready to be a big brother. “He asks me, ‘When, Mama?’ He’ll hug me and kiss my belly. I can only imagine the little bond [he and his younger sibling] are going to have.”

Ashton says she’s already got a name picked out if it’s a girl. “If it’s a girl, we’re going Raden. My mama’s name is Denise. My husband’s mama’s name is Rachel. So we put Raden together, for Rachel Denise. [The baby’s] name would be Raden Delilah, cause my name is Ashton Delilah.”

And if something does "pop up"? “I don’t know!" says the singer. "I don’t have any fun boy names yet."
