American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina is right behind winner Scotty McCreery in sending her first single to the country world. And in the country world, it’s best to give a nod to your mama.

“Like My Mother Does” is the kind of tribute song that made Lauren and her mother cry when they first heard it, Lauren says. The song is co-written by Taylor Swift producer Nathan Chapman, but Lauren says she feels it was written just for her and her mom.

“The song's about my mom, and I kind of know everything about my mom,” Lauren recently told cmt.com. “So it was easy for me to sing about her. She was there and watching me through the screen, so it was real comforting. She's always with me, so it would be weird for her not to be there.”

The music vid is up now at cmt.com, but you can watch it right here!
