Trick Pony lead singer Heidi Newfield has announced that she will leave the band to pursue a solo career. She will make her departure in December, at the end of Trick Pony’s current tour.

“I’ve decided to branch out and try it on my own,” she says in an open letter. “It’s time for me to follow my heart and take my own path.”

Heidi, who has fronted Trick Pony for a decade, says she will continue to consider bandmates Ira Dean and Keith Burns her “dearest friends.”

The trio has made three albums, including last year’s R.I.D.E., and racked up hits like “On a Night Like This,” “Pour Me,” “On a Mission” and “It’s a Heartache.”
