Grand Ole Opry to Add Montgomery Gentry

Charlie Daniels invites the rockin’ duo to be inducted June 23

Charlie Daniels made the May 26 Tuesday Night Opry a night Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry will never forget when he surprised them with a very special invitation. Approaching the stage from the Opry audience, Charlie told the duo, “I have been chosen to do something very special. I have known you guys for a long time, and I am very proud of all your accomplishments. If you agree to it, on June 23rd you’re gonna be made members of the Grand Ole Opry!” Needless to say, both Troy and Eddie were stunned and moved by the news. Eddie borrowed Charlie’s handkerchief to wipe his eyes and Troy could only say, “I’m speechless.” Montgomery Gentry is currently enjoying a Top 5 hit with “One in Every Crowd” on the heels of two recent No. 1s for “Back When I Knew it All” and “Roll With Me.”
