Gloriana Shares Mother’s Day Memories

With Mother's Day yesterday, Sunday, May 12, the members of Gloriana—Rachel Reinert and brothers Tom and Mike Gossin—shared special memories of their moms with Country Weekly. Rachel recalls a touching story that exemplifies every mother's love and devotion.

“When I was 18, my mom was living with me in a one-bedroom apartment in Nashville,” she begins. “I was doing the solo singer/songwriter thing, trying to get a record deal but constantly running into dead ends. Just when I was about to give up, pack my things and head home, my mom took me to a guitar shop.”

There, Rachel spied the most beautiful guitar she’d ever laid eyes on, but also one of the most expensive. Rachel knew that the price tag was out of her range.

“My mom looked at me and said, ‘I'm gonna buy this for you because I believe in you and I don't want you to give up on your dream.’ About a week after I got the guitar, I met Tom and Mike and we formed Gloriana,” Rachel says. “I still have that guitar and play it every night on tour.”

For Tom Gossin, just one memory hardly suffices. But mainly, his mom allowed her son to pursue his dream of musical stardom.

“She let me leave home at 16 to chase my musical dreams and always supported my passion,” Tom says. “For that, I'm forever grateful.”

Brother Mike adds, “My favorite memory with my mom is cooking with her in the kitchen at a young age.”
