Giant Set of Brass Knuckles Will Float Over Brantley Gilbert’s Head

New tour is a far cry from the first tours when Brantley rode with nine guys and two mattresses in one car.

Brantley Gilbert kicks off his first major headlining tour Thursday (Sept. 27) in Indiana with a really tough-looking stage set.

How tough?

"We got a big set of brass knuckles in our lighting truss above us," Brantley tells ABC Radio News.

Brantley wll be rolling down the road with three buses and two semis. And he says he definitely paid his dues to get there.

Of his first gigs, he says, "I'm rolling in the back hatch on top of two folded-up futon mattresses playing a gig that ain't gonna pay for the gas money to get home. So, all these dues paying off is a real cool thing."

Uncle Kracker and newcomer Greg Bates will open for Brantley. No word if new girlfriend Jana Kramer might surprise fans—or Brantley—at a tour stop.
