George Strait Receives Special Radio Award

George Strait added to his roster of honors when he received the Country Radio Broadcasters Career Achievement Award at the Country Radio Hall of Fame event at the Nashville Convention Center, Tuesday night (Feb. 26). The award is given to an artist or individual who has made significant contributions to the country radio format.

A packed crowd of industry executives, radio station personnel from across the nation and members of the media were on hand to watch George receive the honor. Before George took the stage, guests were treated to a video tribute to George from such artists as Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw.

George kept his acceptance speech short and to the point, in typical fashion. "This is so special because it comes from country radio," he said. "One of the great things about being in country music is getting to be with people like you who are in this room tonight." He concluded his remarks by thanking the Country Radio Broadcasters. "I'm so honored," he said. "I appreciate this so much."
