George Strait shares memories of his family and career in a rare interview set to run in the Sunday, Jan. 21, edition of USA Weekend.

George admits that 25 years ago, he had doubts about whether he would become a country star, since so few artists were signed to record deals at the time. He also says that it’s harder to hang on to a record deal these days because, “The record companies don’t keep you if you don’t sell. There are still a few of us out here doing well, even at our age.” USA Weekend appears in many Sunday newspapers across the country.
