George “Lost a Lot of Sleep” Over Tour Decision

George Strait looks ahead to final tours.

George Strait is likely sleeping better these days after coming to what he calls "a tough decision" to stop touring after 2014. George announced Wednesday (Sept. 26) his plans for The Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2013 and 2014, which will be his last extensive tour. The 2013 tour kicks off Jan. 18 in Lubbock, Texas.

George told Country Weekly that he still loves performing but the logistics of touring played a part in his decision. "It's just the getting from point A to point B and all that," George said. "I've done it since 1981 and that is a long time. I have lost a lot of sleep over this decision," he added after a thoughtful pause. "It hasn't been easy."

George, who turned 60 this past year, has racked up enough credentials, including his induction to the Country Music Hall of Fame, to call it quits. But that's not on his mind. "I'm saying that this part of my career is coming to an end," George told CountryWeekly.com. "I am still gonna make records. But as far as the old grind of going out on tour, that's done after these last two."
