George Jones Hospitalized Overnight

Jones, George

Country legend George Jones ended up being hospitalized overnight in Nashville after an annual physical, his publicist said in a press release issued late last night (Jan. 5).

No details were released on what caused doctors to keep the Possum at the hospital. The release said Jones, 79, would go home today.

The Country Music Hall of Famer joked in the statement that it was too cold outside to drive home from the hospital to his suburban Nashville home after his checkup.

“I just decided I didn’t want to drive back to Franklin in this cold weather. So I guess I’ll stay here overnight and go home tomorrow!” Jones said.
