George Jones was admitted to a Nashville hospital Thursday (April 18) for observation following a routine checkup. The 81-year-old country legend was running a slight fever with irregular blood pressure.

As a precautionary measure, George's weekend shows in Salem, Va., and Atlanta have been postponed. Further information on the rescheduling of those shows will be announced soon. George has battled health problems for the last several years, which have resulted in a number of short hospital visits.

Everyone at Country Weekly sends our best wishes to George for a speedy recovery.
