Gary Allan's Stage Crasher!

Fans in the City of Brotherly Love witnessed a fur-ific performance by Gary Allan last week when the “Kiss Me When I’m Down” singer performed an intimate acoustic set for lucky listeners of Philadelphia’s country station, 92.5 XTU—with his dog Lucy at his feet the entire time. Attendees of the invitation-only show, which also featured Josh Kelly, had won their tickets by calling in to the station when prompted.

“We only do these kinds of shows about once every five years,” Gary said from the stage of Philly’s World Cafe Live, as Lucy pawed at his guitar cable and rolled over, to the delight of the giddy crowd.

It’s not the first time Gary’s faithful friend—a Golden retriever and poodle mix—has joined him onstage, but the show was unique for its duration. Lucy was present and on her best behavior for more than an hour, from opening number “Songs About Rain” to show-closer “Watching Airplanes,” occasionally trotting around the stage and coming face-to-face with the audience.

But Gary jokingly warned fans they shouldn’t get too close. When a woman asked to pet Lucy, Gary shot back a quick no.

“I know where that leads,” he teased. “I’ve lost half of my stuff that way before!”
