Gary Allan is ready for the party as he gets set to headline the upcoming 2012 Country Throwdown tour.

At a press conference in Nashville, Monday (Feb. 27), Gary talked about the tour, which will also feature Justin Moore, Rodney Atkins, Josh Thompson, Sunny Sweeney and newcomer Eric Paslay. Country Throwdown utilizes multiple stages along with a Bluebird Cafe area, which spotlights up-and-coming songwriters in an intimate setting.

"I think the whole concept is killer," Gary told reporters. "It's exciting to see this come to country music, and we are super-excited to get out with a bunch of people. We want to bring everybody together and have fun."

Gary also told CountryWeekly.com that the "community aspect" of Country Throwdown appeals to him. "I am looking forward to meeting everybody and getting to perform with them," he said. "When you're the headliner, you sort of get to set the tone. And I want the tone to be fun. We are going to have a good time."

Gary has a new album in the works and says he will be playing some of the material from the record on the Throwdown tour. 'We will have a new album this year," Gary said. "We don't have a firm date yet for the release."

The 2012 Country Throwdown tour kicks off May 18 in Gulfport, Miss. Last year's tour featured headliner Willie Nelson along with Lee Brice, Jamey Johnson, Brantley Gilbert, Craig Campbell and others.
