Garth to Receive Spirit Award

Garth Brooks is adding another honor to his roster of achievements, as he will receive the Spirit Award during the Will Rogers Gala, “Good Ride, Cowboy,” in Tulsa, Okla., Nov. 4.

In recent years, the event has raised money for Garth’s Teammates for Kids Foundation and the Rotary Club of Will Rogers Scholarship Program. Garth’s foundation has teamed with professional athletes to donate to needy children, with the focus on health and education. He has often noted that his humanitarian efforts give him the greatest personal satisfaction. “Our industry seems to focus on the numbers and awards,” says Garth. “I’ve always been told if you take care of the music, those things will take care of themselves.”
