GARTH PARTICIPATES IN READING PROGRAM

This week, Garth Brooks will be visiting schools in six major American cities.

Garth is the honorary chairman of the National Education Association's Read Across America 2002 celebration, and he will be on the road reading to children across the country, starting on Wednesday.

Wednesday morning, Garth will be featured on "Good Morning America" to speak about the project. Hosts Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson will accompany Garth to an elementary school, where they will read to a class of children.

As a parent, Garth understands the importance of reading to children, and says that he reads to his own kids. "I read to them every night, and it's the highlight of my day," he says.

Garth's tour will extend until Friday with the first stop in New York. He also plans to visit schools in Los Angeles, Nashville, Tucson, and Tulsa.
