It's the news we all have been waiting for: Garth Brooks will hit the road in 2014 for a world tour, which he announced Monday morning (Dec. 9) on Good Morning America.

Before the impromptu announcement, Garth teased that he had big news coming “very soon,” which led to his decision to go ahead and let the cat out of the bag.

“You know what . . . since it’s you and since we’ve had a history forever, let’s announce it,” Garth told GMA news anchor Robin Roberts. “We’re going on a world tour in 2014. I can’t believe I just did that, but you are a doll.”

Garth has been laying low for the past several years taking care of his top priorities—being a father of three and a husband to wife Trisha Yearwood, who gave him their blessings for launching the new tour.

“It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring,” Garth said during his interview. “All my babies are fine with it. Ms. Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music.”

Stay tuned to Country Weekly for the full list of world tour dates when they are revealed.
