FREDDY FENDER’S WIFE PLEADS FOR PRIVACY
Freddy Fender’s wife and manager says she appreciates the outpouring of support for the cancer-stricken singer, but asks that fans refrain from calling or coming to their Corpus Christi, Texas, home.
Vangie Huerta says fans have done both, and Freddy—who was recently diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer—needs his rest. Well-wishers are invited to click on Freddy’s website, freddyfender.com, and post on the message board there. The 69-year-old Hispanic country pioneer is best known for 1970s hits like “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” and “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights.”
