Wait, wait, wait . . .

Didn't pop star John Mayer just post in late August that he'd just come off vocal surgery, and that he would have to be on total voice rest for a while, no singing for another six months?

So much for doctor's orders: Zac Brown Band just announced that John will sing with them for not one but two nights this weekend (Sept. 21 and 22) in Nashville.

"We are excited to announce that Grammy award winner, John Mayer, will be joining the Zac Brown Band & Friends special sit in performances," the band announced on its website. John will be added to the list that already includes Gregg Allman, Alan Jackson, Sheryl Crow and Dwight Yoakam.

Zac and John have history. The two jammed together last year, and ZBB has been playing John's song "Neon" in concert for a few years.
