Florida Georgia Line Has Hottest Country Song in 50 Years

“Cruise” is atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 17 weeks, the longest stretch since the ’60s.

You know it, you love it, you've heard "Cruise" by Florida Georgia Line a whole bunch this year. It's the hottest country song of the year.

But how hot is it? "Cruise" now enters its 17th week (that's four months!) on top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. And that's the longest stretch on top of that chart in over 50 years.

Folks, George Strait was 11 years old when a song had a longer run at No. 1 on that chart. And that song was "Walk On By," from Leroy Van Dyke, which spent 19 weeks at the top spot in 1962.

If “Cruise” can hold on for five more weeks, Florida Georgia Line would have the all-time record. Right now, Eddy Arnold, Hank Snow and Webb Pierce are all tied with songs that spent 21 weeks in a row atop the Hot Country Songs chart.

Let's hope the duo can cruise to a new record. (C'mon, we had to say that.)
