Fast Cars and Country Stars

The worlds of country music and NASCAR come together for the fifth annual Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by SunTrust, Jan. 8 and 9 in Nashville.

Some of the top stars in country music and NASCAR will be on hand for this event, which features two concerts on Friday, Jan. 8, plus car and sponsor displays, autographs, question-and-answer sessions and other activities. The weekend kicks off at the Ryman Auditorium with two Grand Ole Opry shows. The 7 p.m. show features Chris Young, new star Danny Gokey and Jason Michael Carroll, while Hank Williams Jr. headlines the 9:30 show. The event continues on Jan. 9 at the Municipal Auditorium where fans can get up-close and personal with NASCAR drivers, team owners and country stars. Among the drivers scheduled to participate are Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Michael Waltrip, Carl Edwards and many others. Sprint Sound & Speed helps raise money for the Victory Junction camp for children, founded by NASCAR’s Kyle Petty and his wife, and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
