FAITH'S CMA AWARDS REACTION: WHAT DO YOU THINK? VOTE NOW.
Faith Hill's unguarded-moment CMA Awards reaction has stirred controversy. Now it's your turn: Was she joking or disrespectful? Vote now.
Faith Hill has denied that she was disrespectful during the Monday night, Nov. 6, telecast of the CMA Awards when the Female Vocalist of the Year was announced.
Faith, who was nominated in that category, was clearly shown on a backstage camera during the ABC telecast when Carrie Underwood was announced as the winner. She responded with a frown, mouthed the word “What?” to the camera and stormed away. Some who viewed the clip, which has already made the rounds on Internet video sites such as youtube.com, assumed that Faith was being disrespectful toward Carrie.
But in a press release issued Nov. 7, Faith stated, “The idea that I would act disrespectful toward a fellow musician is unimaginable to me. For this to become a focus of attention, given the talent gathered, is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving female vocalist of the year.” Gary Borman, Faith’s longtime manager, explained that her reaction was meant as a joke. “She was being playful while the nominations were being read and playful afterward,” said Borman.
