Eric Church is set to play the Austin City Limits Music Festival this weekend (Oct. 13) alongside rockers like Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys and Muse.

Eric often finds himself at rock festivals like Lollapalooza and Bonaroo, playing with acts like Metallica.

“We kind of fit in this world,” he said in a video interview from Austin, one in which he’s sporting some short hair.

“Early on, as a country act, we got kicked out of a lot of country places because we rocked too hard,” he explained.

“We ended up playing some heavy metal bars and stuff, so it’s where we come from. It’s not foreign to us. We feel comfortable doing this. It’s been fun for us.”
