Emmylou Harris Charged in Traffic Incident

Singer Emmylou Harris has been charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run in Los Angeles today (Jan. 30) by the L.A. County district attorney. TMZ reports that a lawyer has entered a "not guilty" plea on her behalf.

The charges stem from an incident on Oct. 1 when Emmylou allegedly collided with another driver on the freeway in her rental car, and then fled from the scene. California Highway Patrol made an investigation following the other driver's report.

A representative for Emmylou told TMZ the accident was a "garden variety accident that happens everyday on the 405" and that the singer didn't realize she had hit the other vehicle.
