Elvis’ Gospel Roots

Elvis Presley’s friend and sometime background singer Joe Moscheo has penned a book exploring the late singer’s love of gospel music. The Gospel Side of Elvis will be released in August, which marks the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death. Joe was a member of gospel quartet The Imperials, which performed in Elvis’ Las Vegas show during the 1970s. He previously produced the Elvis DVDs He Touched Me: The Gospel Side of Elvis and Elvis Lives: The 25th Anniversary Concert. A variety of activities are currently being planned for Elvis Week 2007, the annual Memphis celebration of the late King’s life set for April 11-19. For a schedule of events, go to elvis.com.
