Eli Young Band Gets Its First No. 1 Country Album

10,000 Towns bows at the top of country albums chart.

Gotta wonder if the Eli Young Band got drunk last night: The guys landed their first No. 1 country album with their third major-label release, 10,000 Towns.

On the strength of the first single, “Drunk Last Night,” EYB sold about 36,000 copies of the new album in its first week on sale, about 1,000 more than first-week sales of their previous album, Life at Best.

That also gave Eli Young Band its first Top 5 album on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, beating out releases from rocker Beck, teen hitmaker Lorde (“Royals”) and others.

Currently, the EYB guys are on the other side of the globe touring Australia but they’ll be back stateside in late March.
