Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery is selling the restaurant, selling his house and filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, Kentucky’s Lexington Herald-Leader reports.

Eddie’s struggles in business and marriage brought him to this point, his lawyer, Jamie Harris, told the newspaper.

“It is very common with individuals dealing with divorce and business closure to have to seek out bankruptcy relief,” the lawyer said.

Last year, Eddie Montgomery’s Steakhouse closed abruptly, and Eddie also got divorced from his wife, Tracy.

In bankruptcy papers, Eddie lists $13.4 million in debts but only $1.9 million in assets.
