Eddie Montgomery, one half of Montgomery Gentry and brother of John Michael Montgomery, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“I will be undergoing surgery to remove the cancerous tumor in December," Eddie said in a statement released tonight (Nov. 18) by his publicist. "I will be back in January ready to rock for all the fans! Please keep my family and I in your prayers.”

The duo, who became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 2009, is currently on tour in Canada. Montgomery Gentry's last tour date of 2010, according to their website, is Dec. 4 in Charlotte.
