Dolly Parton is set to return to the big screen in her first film since 1992’s Straight Talk, and the upcoming movie promises just what we would expect from the superstar: lots of singing. Dolly will team up with rapper/actress Queen Latifah for the film Joyful Noise, the story of two women who band together to keep their small-town gospel choir from being shut down.

Queen Latifah portrays a mother of two teens who is asked to take over the role of choir director after the choir's leader suddenly dies. Dolly plays the choir director's strong-willed widow, who assumed she would take over the role of choir director after his death, which puts the two women at odds.

“I'm really happy to be doing a movie with Queen Latifah,” Dolly says in a press release. "I really like her and have often thought we would be fun together. Even though we play rivals in the movie, I’m sure we’ll have our fun behind the scenes.’

Dolly is also excited that the movie will feature gospel music, a genre that is very dear to her. “I’m so happy to be doing a movie about music—especially happy because it’s gospel music, which I grew up singing and loving. We need something uplifting in this day in time! So yep, happy, happy, happy—that’s me.”

Filming is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2011, according to reports.
