Dolly Gets Tony Nod

Dolly Parton is among the nominees for a prestigious Tony Award for 9 to 5: The Musical.

Dolly is up for Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theater. Dolly was thrilled by the nomination and noted, "I'm just so proud to be here and to be nominated for a Tony for writing the score for 9 to 5: The Musical. It's a wonderful show and I'm proud to be part of it." 9 to 5: The Musical, based on the popular 1980 movie co-starring Dolly, opened April 30 at the Marquis Theater on Broadway. The 2009 Tony Awards will be presented at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and will air live on CBS-TV, Sunday, June 7, at 8 p.m. ET.
