Dolly Douses Plans

Dolly Parton has announced that she will no longer be associated with plans to build a Nashville water and snow park.

In January, Dolly, along with Nashville politicians and Gaylord Opryland VIPs unveiled plans for the 114-acre theme park that would change attractions by the seasons. The decision to withdraw from the plans comes following the announcement that Gaylord would be selling their brand and several properties to Marriot International, Inc.

In a statement, she said, "Gaylord makes decisions that they feel are good for their company and their stockholders and I have to make decisions based on what is best for me and the Dollywood Company. . . . I think everyone knows I love Nashville and I hope the work we've already done will spark more family entertainment in Nashville."

Dolly is still the namesake and co-owner of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
