DIXIE CHICKS OWN THE EVENING

The Dixie Chicks' upcoming special, "An Evening With The Dixie Chicks," airs on NBC on Tuesday at 8pm.

The show mostly focuses on their newest album, "Home," and they wanted things to be just right, so they handpicked the director for the special, picking one who is known for his flexibility.

"We can change our minds a million times, times three, so it was definitely a collaboration," says Martie Maguire. "The music was the most complex thing about pulling it all together. I'm sure behind the scenes he had to worry about more technical things, but there weren't a lot of tricks and flashy things."

The Chicks also made sure that they held all the rights to the special.

"We weren't comfortable with letting the network or Sony own this thing," says Natalie Maines. "Because then things happen that you don't want to happen."
