Dierks Cheers On His Wife at Boston Marathon
Cassidy Bentley finishes Boston Strong.
Last week, country stars like Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney reminded fans to keep the Boston Marathon runners in their thoughts as they prepped for this year’s event, one year after the tragic bombing that killed three and injured more than 200 others.
But it was Dierks Bentley’s wife, Cassidy, who stepped up to the starting line to represent country music where the rubber sole meets the road. Decked out in matching green shirts, Dierks, along with Cassidy’s family, posted themselves along the route to encourage their favorite runner and to grab photos and times. And Dierks took to Twitter to keep fans posted on Cassidy’s progress throughout the race.
It was a pre-race tweet, though, that put the race in perspective. Dierks wrote, “Her text to me: ‘Make sure to say I’m thinking of last year and everything people have endured. Running for love.’”
Of course, shortly after that he wrote, “And I just got this: ‘What does it say that I’m already thinking about post-race margarita?!’ Ha! Me too and I’m not even running!”
Congratulations to Cassidy, who finished the 26.2 mile race in 3:33:38, an 8:08 pace!
