Dierks Bentley Tips It On Back . . . Carefully

He sticks to light beer, but has an appreciation for all things alcohol.

You'd expect an artist with songs like "Sideways" to really throw down the hard stuff, but, for his own good, Dierks Bentley says, "The smart thing is for me to stick to light beer."

At the recent No. 1 party for "5-1-5-0," Dierks told CountryWeekly.com, "I kind of like a little bit of everything, you know. There's a lot of things you get good at over the years of playing on the road, and being able to appreciate the spirits, all the spirits, is one of those things. I appreciate them all on certain levels, but I try not to ever let it interfere with the show."

Dierks is grateful that YouTube wasn't around before he learned his drinking limits. "There were times when I was touring with Cross Canadian Ragweed . . . there were shows that ended poorly, I'm sure," he says. "When you have 10 or 11 Jäger Bombs during your show, it's probably not going to end gracefully."

Now the father of two little ladies is getting drunk on solid performances and his fans! At least until after the encore.
