DEANA CARTER'S NEW RECORD IS AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL

After some time away from the spotlight, Deana Carter is back with a new CD called The Story of My Life-and fans can take that title literally. "This album is me healing from a massive heartbreak and writing about it," said Deana. The "Strawberry Wine" singer explained that she'd moved to Los Angeles after divorcing from her husband only to land in a relationship that ended badly. So she used her sadness to fuel her songs, and in the process, also met indie-filmmaker Chris Hicky-and soon the couple was expecting their first child. "Everything in my life turned upside down," she admitted. "Everything changes - and obviously, with a baby on the way, I knew my life was going to change even more. Chapters were ending, and a new chapter had started. I didn't know if I'd ever be the same again." Two weeks after she finished The Story Of My Life, Deana gave birth to her son, Gray Hayes Hicky. "I feel like there was a birth and a re-birth all at the same time," said Deana, "and I couldn't be happier."
