David Nail’s Adele Cover to Be Part of New EP

Country singer says he’s scared Adele will tweet, “Who in the hell is this redneck singing my song?”

It started out when David Nail was in the car with his wife, and she had managed to pry the radio off David's beloved sports talk stations. The couple heard Adele's "Someone Like You." David was blown away, and he found the song online and listened to it over and over again.

"I kind of fancied myself as somebody who hears a lyric and identifies with the lyric and tries to relay that through singing, and that's what I heard in that. I just fell in love with it," David told reporters recently. "Just listened to it so many times."

So David started singing the song himself as a warm-up song, and he eventually made his own video. And that led to David cutting an EP, which will include his version of "Someone Like You." The EP, called 1979 (the year David was born), will be released July 17.

David hasn't heard from Adele herself.

"I think anytime you do something like that you're scared to death because the last thing you want is to get on your Twitter and see Adele going, 'Who in the hell is this redneck singing my song?' But it hasn't happened yet. So, either she likes it or she's like, 'Don't bother me with this stuff.'"
