Let’s face it, David Nail has been kind of a downer on love. “Red Light” and “Let It Rain” are songs where love ain’t exactly going right.

But David’s latest, “Whatever She’s Got,” is an uplifting breath of fresh air for the country singer. And that reflects what kind of guy David is these days, he tells ABC News Radio.

“To be honest, over the last 12 months, I think that I’ve kind of transformed into a carefree and fun individual,” he said. “And so, this record kind of took on that personality that I guess I’ve kind of achieved over time.”

Oh, and one more bonus: David’s got his very own boat song now.

Do what?

Well, David goes out boating with some buddies, and he loves it when they crank up the boat stereo, sway their arms and sing along. He remembers thinking that the first time he heard “Whatever She’s Got.”

“That was the first thing I did was text my buddy and say, ‘I’ve got a boat song now.’”
