Darius Rucker Accepts Twitter Challenge

Touché, Darius Rucker! In his No. 1 hit “Alright,” the soulful singer famously extols the virtues of having a stereo and the best of Patsy Cline on CD. But for Nashville mystery tweeter @NotJakeOwen—who has attracted nearly 20,000 followers with a series of snarky tweets about country artists—Darius’ lyrical claim wasn’t good enough.

On Wednesday, @NotJakeOwen tweeted, "$500 reward to anyone that can prove @dariusrucker owns the best of Patsy Cline in his music collection."

Darius himself took up the challenge, walking over to his music collection at his home in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and snapping a photo of a stack of CDs that included, yep, Patsy Cline’s 12 Greatest Hits.

“Pay up,” Darius replied in his tweet, posting the photographic proof. “$500 and make it out to @StJude.”

Earlier this year, during the week of CMA Music Festival, the Darius & Friends Golf Tournament and Concert helped raise more than $121,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. No word yet if the faux Jake will be invited to tee up at next year's fourth annual fundraiser.
