Darius to Mentor Junior Songwriter

OK, budding country songwriters, here’s your chance to write with Darius Rucker.

CMT and a Nashville-based songwriters’ group are putting together a contest to help the upcoming songwriting stars.

It’s called the NSAI Song Contest Presented by CMT, and it runs from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31.

The grand prize is a mentoring session with Darius, who, among other accomplishments, scored three straight No. 1 hits when he became a country artist a few years back. Darius might’ve had a few hits with Hootie & the Blowfish as well.

Professional writers and publishers will judge the contest, but fans will vote on songs, too, so lots of folks will hear your stuff.

It’s gonna run you $45 for every song you submit, or $35 if you’re a member of NSAI, the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
