CW Exclusive: Scotty McCreery Reveals Title of Keith Urban Song on New Album

Well actually, it’s a song from The Ranch . . .

American Idol champ Scotty McCreery recently revealed that he'd be covering a Keith Urban song on his new album, but didn't say which one. Until now.

"That's been the big mystery," Scotty acknowledges to CountryWeekly.com. “‘What song is Scotty singing?’”

In 1997, pre-solo success, Keith was a member of trio The Ranch; the band released the single “Walkin’ the Country,” which reached No. 50 on the Billboard country singles chart. Now, Scotty will include the song on his upcoming debut album, Clear as Day, which will be released Oct. 4.

Keith gave the song to Scotty with his blessing. “He sent it over really early in the process,” Scott says. “He said, ‘I think this would be great for Scotty,’ so we took a listen to it. We didn’t [record ‘Walkin’ the Country’] during the first five [songs] we cut in Nashville. I think if we would have, maybe Keith might have been able to play guitar on the track, but now he’s on tour, kind of like we are. It’s tough for me to stop and catch my breath on tour, so I'm sure it would be really tough for him to do that.

“It’s a really cool song,” Scotty continues. “It’s easy to relate to. That was the big song from The Ranch, so it’s really cool that he threw it over to me. Hopefully I can do it justice and hopefully Keith likes it. It was a lot of fun recording that song.”
