Country Stars Have a Golden June

Rascal Flatts, Kenny, Luke, Jason score hot singles.

Sure, you remember when artists would get gold albums for selling half a million or more copies, and that still happens. Brad Paisley, for instance, just got his eighth gold album with This Is Country Music, which hit 500,000-plus in sales in just a month.

But now, artists are striking gold with singles sold online, and four country acts hit that mark in June. Jason Aldean struck gold with “Dirt Road Anthem,” Luke Bryan did it with “Country Girl (Shake It for Me),” Kenny Chesney with “Beer in Mexico” and Rascal Flatts with “I Won’t Let Go,” according to figures from the Recording Industry Association of America.

But that’s not all. Sara Evans has her first platinum single, selling more than a million copies of “A Little Bit Stronger,” proving she’s just a little bit stronger than the fellers.
