Country’s Newer Acts Dominate Nominations for ACAs

And veteran Toby Keith to give “Red Solo Cup” its broadcast performance debut.

The American Country Awards on Monday night (Dec. 5) should offer a different feel than other country awards shows.

The newer acts have dominated the nominations, with Zac Brown Band and Jason Aldean getting eight nominations each, and duo Thompson Square landing seven noms.

Look for thompson Square, Eli Young Band, Miranda Lambert-led trio Pistol Annies and Chris Young to be among the performers. And The Band Perry will perform for the second year in a row on the show. The family trio is so psyched, they tweeted a pic from rehearsals.

You'll see some veteran sprinkled among the performers for the show, airing at 8 p.m. ET on Fox—Toby Keith is set to make his broadcast performance debut of his silly song "Red Solo Cup."

Trace Adkins and Broadway star-turned-country singer Kristin Chenoweth are set to host.
